Eastern White Pine
(Pinus strobus)

  • Coniferous

  • Branches are horizontal

    • Whorls of 5

  • Height: 70-80 feet

  • Trunk Diameter: 1-3 feet

  • Bark: young trees are smooth and gets darker with flat plates and shallow ridges

  • Leaves: needle shaped, a blueish green color and 3-5 inches long

  • Cones: 4-8 inches long, with a long stalk

  • State tree and flower of Maine

  • Indigenous name: kuwes
