About the event
This interactive workshop for teachers empowers educators to become architects of authentic historical inquiry using research-based best practices and resources highlighted in the book The Social Studies FIELD Guide( which you will get a copy of). Join author Joe Schmidt and work together to tailor custom lesson plans for your classroom.
Participants will learn a practical, step-by-step process for building inquiry-based units that leverage resources already available to you. We'll explore how to guide students in developing their own historical questions, identifying relevant primary source documents, images, and maps as they construct evidence-based arguments.
Beyond just identifying resources, this session will introduce you to various EdTech tools and digital platforms that support student research, analysis, and creative presentation of historical findings. You’ll gain hands-on experience applying these tools in lesson plan development, and crucially, you will begin to draft a complete, foundational inquiry-driven lesson plan specifically designed for your own classroom…
