About the event

Birds, bees, flowers and wind: Exploring Pollination Basics

Pollination is so fascinating and vital for life on planet Earth. During this interactive experience we learn about Maine’s main pollinations, talk about what pollination is and seek to discover how flowers display signals to pollinators. We will explore how certain creatures are adapted to particular flowers, which will lead us to thinking like a butterfly or hummingbird and seeing like a bee or beetle. If the wind is blowing we may see pollinators in action. Near the end, just for fun, we will see what a bee-free-picnic might look like.
