About the event

Join Tom Wessels for a photo interpretation program about the Maine landscape. Tom will focus on the natural history of the area by interpreting photos from the region and explaining the techniques that he uses along the way.


Attendees are encouraged to submit their own photos of natural features to be interpreted during the program by emailing them to  kelly.lunt@woodlawnellsworth.org. Examples of photos include strangely shaped trees, interesting rock formations, changes in topography, old agricultural fields, or any other mysterious thing you come across in the forest.


About the speaker:

Tom is professor emeritus at Antioch University where he founded the master’s degree program in Conservation Biology. As a terrestrial ecologist he has worked in forest, desert, arctic, and alpine ecosystems. Tom is the author of numerous books, with his latest being New England’s Roadside Ecology: Explore 30 of the Region’s Unique Natural Areas. He has conducted workshops on ecology, natural…
