About the lecture: Mary Morton Cowan's lecture features a slideshow, “Working the Woods,” which describes logging procedures from colonial times to the present day. The program includes many historic photos taken by her grandfather. She addresses climate change and discusses the future of our forests. Her latest children's book, Timberrr! A History of Logging in New England, will be available for sale."


About the presenter: Mary Morton Cowan writes books and articles for young readers and has won several awards for her work. A Maine native, she graduated from Westbrook High School and Bates College.


Light refreshments will be available for those attending in person. 


 This lecture is being presented in person with the option of watching via Zoom. When you register please mark how to plan to attend. If you are attending via Zoom a link will be sent to you about a week before from Education Director, Kelly Lunt.
