Eastern Hemlock
(Tsuga canadensis)

  • Coniferous

  • ​Height: 60-70 feet

  • Trunk Diameter: 2-3 feet

  • Bark: narrow, rounded ridges covered with thick scales

  • Leaves: flat, short needles, 1/3 to 2/3 inches long

  • Cones: 3/4 inches long and pendant shaped

  • Can live 400-600+ years

  • Indigenous name: ksiwsk
